Hornsea & District U3A

WHO ARE WE?

Hornsea & District U3A began in July 2009 and now have a membership of over 200 which is growing steadily. The national organisation has several regions and we are part of the Yorkshire and Humber Region (YAHR), which itself holds events throughout the year. There are details of regional activities under the heading YAHR. You can find information about the U3A organisation by following the link to the National U3A website.

WHAT WE DO

We form interest groups that are led by members with relevant knowledge, experience or are simply keen to learn more about a particular subject. There are also groups for social activities such as strolling, lunching and card playing. Each month we have a meeting with a guest speaker, refreshments and an opportunity to socialise with other members and find out about the various groups and outings that are available.

WHAT IT COSTS

There is an annual subscription, currently £15. A donation of £1 (currently suspended) is requested to attend our Monthly Meetings to help pay for hall rental. Interest groups are mainly free but there may be small charges made to pay for room rental or travel expenses to outside venues. A charge is made for outings and theatre visits.

Third Age Matters is the national U3A magazine which can be posted to members homes. 5 copies are produced each year at a charge of £3.35 a year.

WHERE WE MEET

Our Monthly Meeting is held in the Floral Hall, Esplanade, Hornsea on the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 am (excluding August). The different interest groups meet in member's homes, hired rooms and at various outside venues.
