Outings
Outings are offered to members from their own suggestions or places of interest the organisers think will be successful. Members sign up at the monthly meeting for a trip in which they want to participate, when payment is required to secure the booking.
The tickets provide the pick-up times in Hornsea; collection time and location for the return trip home; and a phone number of the organiser on that particular trip. Buses are booked for the group and we collect from two meeting points in the town. The organisers make sure members make known where they want to be picked up and the time. We try to cater for a wide spread of interests and are mindful of any needs for any disabilities.
Recent trips in 2023, have included days at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, International Bomber Command and York Christmas Market. We also held two 2 hour walking tours - one of Beverley and one of Hull Old Town. Both were accompanied by a tour guide and local historian who brought the sights and sites to life.
In 2024 - so far, we attended a guided meditation at the Madhyamaka Kadampa Meditation Centre, Burnby Hall Gardens, a stained glass workshop in and shopping trip to Scarborough, and two private tours of Trinity House, in Hull. See below for future trips and outings.
Trips are open to every member of our U3A and have been a good source of making social contacts especially when new to the area.
